At Acorn Chiropractic we use a range of techniques to address the individual’s specific needs and their system at that point in time. We work with babies to the elderly and everyone in between!
Chiropractic and Children
Your child’s health is their greatest asset!
From the time we are conceived, our brain requires regular information to help develop new neurological pathways which allow us to experience and interact with our world. The birth process can cause significant stress on a newly formed brainstem and can be the start of interference of the nervous system.
Interference in the nervous system and imbalance in brain function can set up patterns of disturbance for a child growing and may affect them in a multitude of ways. The wellbeing, growth and development of our children depends upon how well their bodies function.
Regular adjustments which assess the spine and cranial system, motor tone and primitive reflexes, as well as checking for digestive dysfunction, including food intolerances and nutritional deficiencies allow the nervous system to function optimally and assist brain development.
Coupled with home exercises, chiropractic adjustments help ensure that children are supported in their development and learning. Chiropractic care is gentle and safe, (we don’t use manual adjustments on children, we use gentle cranial work) and has a profound impact on brain function, not only allowing higher neurological functioning but helping to calm the nervous system to create a happier, more settled child.
Applied Kinesiology
What is Applied Kinesiology?
At Acorn Chiropractic we specialise in Professional Applied Kinesiology (PAK, or AK) which is a muscle testing system used to evaluate and find imbalances in the body.
AK addresses the physical, chemical and emotional states of the body and may use a variety of aspects depending on the needs of the patient, including, the application of specific structural adjustments, myofascial techniques, cranial-sacral correction, homeopathy, nutrition, visceral (organ) therapy, immune system function, evaluating environmental irritants, assessing retained primitive reflexes and mental/emotional aspects of integrative well-being.

Chiropractic and Pregnancy
Chiropractic care helps women to be as healthy as they can be during pregnancy.
A well functioning nervous system enables a mother to cope with different challenges during pregnancy. Many changes occur in your body as your baby grows, and with this, it can sometimes produce stress, tension and discomfort.
Your centre of gravity changes dramatically during pregnancy as well as biochemically there are many new hormones being produced which help our baby to grow and our body to cope.
